Magnolia Seed Exchange
Magnolia 'Big Dude'
The 2025 Seed Counter is now open!
The Seed Counter is the Magnolia Society’s seed exchange program, a benefit of membership. Members of the Society contribute seed from around the world, giving us the opportunity to offer seeds that you may not easily find at your local nursery.
Seed offerings differ each year depending on multiple factors that affect seed harvesting. Check out our current seed list to get an idea of the possibilities -- including hand-crosses from innovative breeding programs and open-pollinated seed from distinguished collections.
Special Note: for 2025, we are mailing our seeds from 2 different locations: From the USA for US and Canadian orders, and from Belgium for the rest of the world (all other nations except USA and Canada). We hope this will facilitate a faster process for receiving the seeds. Both locations have the same seeds, in the same quantities. Please make sure to order from the correct order form. Otherwise your seeds may be trapped in customs or arrive too late. Here are the two order forms:
- For members in the USA and Canada: Use this form (USA and Canada Only)
- For members in all other nations: Use this form (outside USA and Canada)
To purchase or donate seed, you need to be a registered member of the Magnolia Society. Find out more information on the benefits of membership and join us.
Seed is generally collected by Society members throughout the growing season and submitted to the Seed Counter in the fall. Over the winter, Society volunteers process and organize the seed. The seed catalog is issued in the early part of the year and seed orders are usually fulfilled in early March.
It all starts with seed donations -- here’s how to contribute.
